Legalising documents from UK universities and educational bodies (other than high school certificates)

The Lebanese government requires that all UK documents obtained from UK universities or educational bodies, other than school certificates, be legalised by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and then the Lebanese Embassy in London before they can be used in Lebanon. Therefore, British Council has currently ceased all verification services for UK Universities certificates or letters.

For further details please refer to the British Embassy’s website on the matter.

British Council Lebanon will certify original documents after checking their validity as follows:

UK Qualifications awarded outside Lebanon

If you were awarded a UK qualification by an approved school or university in a country other than Lebanon, we may be able to check the validity of the document(s) to be certified, using our own database.

If you are a student coming from the UK to continue studying in a school in Lebanon, we will check information about UK school enrolment via the official UK institutions' website.

For certification of documents you need to bring the originals. British Council Lebanon will only stamp the copies.

The certification service is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 09:00 am till 12:00 pm. The verification process will take a minimum of two working days.

Certification fees: USD 34 for each original document and USD 6 for each copy.
